Hydraulic Log Splitter

lol yeah your right mate, but the amount im looking to do will take years with an axe or a few days with a splitter!!! i brought a jcb hydrochief few weeks back for the breaker but turns out you can run splitters off it to, which is a bonus......... :boogy:

thats it mate, my keeper friend has a few wind blown trees hanging in other trees deep in the forest and he says if get them down i can have them!!! im hoping to get something to use with my hydraulic pack so its easy to chuck on his trailer and tow it with his quad, get the trees down and then split them where they fall.......... :thumbs:

we have had plenty of wood off wankers who season it for about 2 weeks so do it properly!!!! :censored::laugh:

if theres someone daft enough to buy it tho........... :whistling::D only messing mate we are trying to split it all now, ready for next year!!!

they certinly look impresive. iv got a pot bellie stove in my shed and was looking to get some logs myself, how long do yous lads season for?

i think it depends on a lot of things mate!! i found this site useful, but the basic answer is untill is dry lol :thumbs:

You would need to find out if the log splitter has a d.c.v (directional control valve) if the hydraulic cylinder is double acting. I'm pretty sure most power packs built for running breakers and small hammers only have an on/off valve which only flows oil in one direction.

thats whats got me thinking, its an old machine (jcb hydrochief) and cant find anything out about it online............ :hmm:

 

this is what i had in my mind, but not as powerful as i thought, but where some off the trees are (in a valley) you will only get them out with a quad, so just split what we can and leave the rest where it is..........

we get it off a chap now who seasons it for 2 years in potato crates, its more expensive due to the length of time he has to store it for but by gum it burns well and hot :thumbs:
